The Vinnell Corporation is an international private military company based in the United States specializing in military training, logistics, and support in the form of weapon systems maintenance and management consultancy. They conducted training of portions of the Saudi Arabian National Guard as a joint Saudi/American owned company called Vinnell Arabia. Vinnell Corporation is a subsidiary of Northrop Grumman Corporation. They are also party to other joint venture companies; i.e., VBR (Vinnell-Brown & Root).
The Vinnell Corporation was mentioned in Fahrenheit 9/11 for its connections to the Carlyle Group, George W. Bush, and the Saudi Royal family.
Vinnell Arabia was bombed on May 12, 2003 by Saudi terrorists. Ten Americans and three Filipinos were killed. Another employee was stalked from the military hospital to his home in Riyadh and assassinated on the street.
Vinnell Corporation was given the initial contract to recreate the New Iraqi Army in 2003 by the U.S. Department of Defense.[1] The contract was for nine battalions, with an option to extend the training to 27 battalions. In the event, the second phase was taken over by regular U.S. military forces.

Cubic Corporation, based in San Diego, was founded in 1951 by Walter J. Zable as an electronics firm and is today the parent company of two divisions, Cubic Transportation Systems, Inc. and Cubic Defense Applications. The defense division receives most their work from developing training devices for complex and expensive weaponry, communications and surveillance equipment, and air/ground data link capabilities.
The transportation department manufactures automatic ticketing systems for major cities' public rails and buses. For instance, they have so far been awarded $64 million since 1999 to replace San Francisco's BART fare collection system, for which they have received top honors for performance. Every year over 10 billion rides are taken around the world using Cubic fare collection systems. They have been traded on the stock exchange since 1959. [1] [2] [3][4]
Defense
The defense side of the company has been making simulators for the military since 1973 when they developed the first instrumented air combat training system for US fighter pilots. In 2001, they introduced their Deployable System for Training And Readiness (DSTAR) which is a mobile instrumented combat training center that integrates parts of CDA's fielded air and ground training systems [5] In September of 2003, Cubic bought out ECC International Corporation at its listed price of $5.25 a share. [6] This became their Simulation Systems Division (SSD) which provides "virtual training devices to military and commercial customers worldwide." [7]
Some recent contracts and business activities have been:
- In July of 2004, they were granted a $6.5 million subcontract from General Dynamics Amphibious Systems to develop and produce a Driver Simulator and a Turret Simulator for the Marine Corps new Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle (EFV). This tracked, amphibious, armored vehicle can transport a loaded squad across the water at up to 25 knots and across land with the agility of an M1 tank. These simulators are used to train and familiarize the drivers and gunners with the EFVs. [8]
- In October of 2004, they were awarded a $6 million contract from Raytheon/Lockheed Martin Javelin Joint Venture to produce tactical trainers for RLM's shoulder launched, "fire-and-forget" anti-tank missile. The Javelin Field Tactical Trainers contract is the latest of four to provide training equipment for this weapon. [9]

1992 proved the end of Vought's relationship with LTV. In mid-year the aircraft division was purchased by Northrop and the Carlyle Group, each owning roughly 50% of the company. Additionally, the missile division was entirely sold to the Loral Corporation. That original legacy Vought missiles division in Texas is currently a vital part of Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control.
1990s to Today
Northrop Grumman, the successor to Northrop, bought out the Carlyle Group's share of Vought for $130 million in 1994. The Carlyle Group then purchased the entire company from Northrop Grumman in 2000 and established Vought Aircraft Industries, Inc., the current incarnation. It is now primarily an aerostructures subcontractor. Vought is heavily involved in the Boeing 747, Boeing 787 aircraft as well as supplying parts for the F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning II and the V-22 Osprey. In July 2003, the Aerostructures Corp., owned by the Carlyle Group and based in Nashville, Tennessee, merged with Vought. Vought's Nashville site supplies wing components for Airbus A319, A320, A330, and A340.On Stephen Lerner and the SEIU’s “Economic Terrorism”

Service Employees International Union (SEIU) is a labor union representing about 1.8 million workers in over 100 occupations in the United States (including Puerto Rico), and Canada.[1] SEIU is focused on organizing workers in three sectors: health care (over half of members work in the health care field), including hospital, home care and nursing home workers; public services (local and state government employees); and, property services (including janitors, security officers and food service workers).
SEIU is the fastest growing labor union in the United States[2][3] and has over 150 local branches. It is affiliated with the Change to Win Federation and the Canadian Labour Congress. SEIU is based out of Washington, D.C., and has several internal divisions which include: Communications, Government Affairs, New Media, Organizing, Political, Global Strength, Pension/Benefits, Community Strength, Research, and Legal.
The union states that its top priorities are to stand up for working families to help bring economic relief to millions across the country, fix the nation's broken health care system, and fight to guarantee workers' rights on the job. SEIU is sometimes referred to as the "purple ocean" at political events because of the union's recognizable purple shirts. The union is also known for its Justice for Janitors program and strong support for Democratic candidates. It spent $28 million supporting Barack Obama in the 2008 presidential election, making it the "organization that spent the most to help Barack Obama get elected president."[4]

Frances Fox Piven defies death threats after taunts by anchorman Glenn Beck
Leftwing academic speaks out amid hate campaign led by Fox News host Glenn Beck

Frances Fox Piven is not going into hiding. Not yet.
The 78-year-old leftwing academic is the latest hate figure for Fox News host Glenn Beck and his legion of fans. While she has decided to shrug off the inevitable death threats that have followed, she is well aware of the problem. "I don't know if I am scared, but I am worried," she told the Observer as she sat in a bar on Manhattan's Upper West Side.
"At the start I thought it was funny, but now I know that is dangerous... their paranoia works better when they can imagine a devil. Now that devil is me."
For the past three weeks Beck has relentlessly targeted Piven via his television and radio shows as a threat to the American way of life, seizing on an essay that she and her late husband wrote in 1966 as a sort of blueprint for bringing down the American economy.
Called The Weight of the Poor, it advocated signing up so many poor people for welfare payments that the cost would force the government to bring in a policy of a guaranteed income. For Piven, a committed voice of the left, known in academic circles but little recognised outside them, it was just one publication in a lifetime dedicated to political activism and theorising.

The OMEGA File
Earth Island Journal, Fall 94: ARCO, Eastlund and the Roots of HAARP -- by Gary Smith: (Note: Following is an interesting by-product of ARCO [the Atlantic Richfield Co.,] which has been getting a good deal of attention throughout Internet discussion groups.
Could such a powerful project be used 'against' American citizens by ARCO or other proponents of the 'New World Order'? - Branton) All atomic and electronic technologies -- from household appliances to nuclear weapons -- radiate energetic particles. While the immediate impacts of human-caused electromagnetic pollution are generally imperceptible, the long-term consequences for the biosphere can be profound. In 1988, OMNI magazine raised concerns about the environmental consequences of a bizarre electromagnetic invention. According to OMNI, ARCO, the US oil giant, found itself wondering what to do with the estimated 30 trillion cubic feet of natural gas that it hoped to extract from Alaska's North Slope. While this was enough energy to supply the US for a year, the gas fields were too far from any potential customers. ARCO concluded that it would be too expensive to liquefy the gas and ship it thousands of miles to urban centers. What was needed was a client that wanted access to vast amounts of energy on-site -- in the wilds of Alaska. Bernard Eastland, an MIT and Columbia University physicist with eight years experience with the Atomic Energy Commission, came to the rescue with an extraordinary plan to use the energy "at the point of production." Eastland, who soon became president of ARCO's Production Technologies International Company in Houston, proposed burning the vast Alaskan gas fields to power a huge electric generator. The resulting power would be directed into a huge antenna complex, 40 miles on a side. The antennae would be used to focus an intense beam of electromagnetic energy into the upper atmosphere where it would collide with the ionosphere to create a phenomenon called the "mirror force." Eastland was granted a US Patent (# 4,686,605) for this invention on August 11, 1987.
Steve Norris was one of the co-founders of The Carlyle Group in Washington, D.C. serving as President of its management company from inception in 1987 to 1996. He will be Chairman of Stephen Norris & Co. Capital Partner's Investment Committee and will principally focus on sourcing of investment opportunities and investment strategy, as well as structuring and negotiating investments and exits from investments.
Manufacturing missiles and a lightly armored coffin called Bradley troop carrier vehicle, United Defence is one of the Pentagon's main suppliers. Its main shareholder is Carlyle.
Manages some $18 billion dollars in weapons, biotech, space, security, nanotch and telecommunications contracts, the company’s speciality is picking up failed weapons makers for pennies on the dollar – just before those companies receive huge contracts from the White House.
It’s not hard to see their secret. After serving as America’s first war president since Vietnam, George Bush senior served as a consultant to Carlyle for ten years – before bailing out in October 2003 as questions mounted on Capitol Hill. As the French note, “It was the first time in US history that a former president worked for a Pentagon supplier.”
The group found Bush Jr. a job as administrator for Caterair, a Texas company specialized in aerial catering in February 1990, while his father occupied the White House. When GW left Caterair in 1994 to become Governor of Texas, the company – like every enterprise ever run by the younger Bush, was in a flat financial spin.
"It's not possible to get closer to the administration than Carlyle is," Charles Lewis, Director of the Center for Public Integrity, a non-partisan organization in Washington told the French press. "George Bush senior earned money from private interests that worked for the government of which his son was president. You could even say that the president could one day profit financially, through his father's investments, from the political decisions he himself took."
According to Le Monde, “The collection of influential characters who now work, have worked, or have invested in the Carlyle group would make the most convinced conspiracy theorists incredulous. They include among others, John Major, former British Prime Minister; Fidel Ramos, former Philippines President; Park Tae Joon, former South Korean Prime Minister; Saudi Prince Al-Walid; Colin Powell, the present Secretary of State; James Baker III, former Secretary of State; Caspar Weinberger, former Defense Secretary; Richard Darman, former White House Budget Director; the billionaire George Soros, and even some bin Laden family members.”
Le Monde adds, you can add “the daughter of Madeleine Albright, former Secretary of State; Arthur Lewitt, former SEC head; William Kennard, former head of the FCC, to this list. Finally, add in the Europeans: Karl Otto Poehl, former Bundesbank president; the now-deceased Henri Martre, who was president of Aerospatiale; and Etienne Davignon, former president of the Belgian Generale Holding Company.”
Holdings close to 200 companies, Carlyle provides returns on its investments that have exceeded 30 % for a decade.
Created in 1987, Carlyle languished until January 1989 when Frank Carlucci took over. Former Assistant Director of the CIA, National Security Advisor, then Ronald Reagan's Defense Secretary, Carlucci’s contacts in Washington were lucratively legion. He and Donald Rumsfeld's were roommates at Princeton. Later, their paths crossed in several administrations.
According to Le Monde, “Six days after officially quitting the Pentagon, January 6, 1989, Frank Carlucci became Carlyle's Director General. He brought trusted lieutenants from the CIA, the State Department, and the Defense Department with him. Nicknamed ’Mr. Clean’, Frank Carlucci has a sulfurous reputation” for alleged arms trafficking and questionable conduct – including the assassination of Patrice Lumumba while serving as number two at the American embassy in the Belgian Congo in 1961.
“For a while,” Le Monde adds, “he directed Wackenhut, a security company with a hateful reputation, implicated in one of the biggest espionage scandals ever, the hijacking of Promise software” - and the murder of its inventor.
Carlucci also cleaned up after the Iran-Contra affair caused President Reagan to stammer a nonsensical denial on national TV. When became National Security Advisor, Carlucci chose a young general named Colin Powell to be his assistant?
Frank Carlucci's brought capital to Carlyle. In October 1990, the group took over “Star Wars” supplier BDM International, along with its profitable links to the CIA. Two years later, Congress blocked their attempted take over of LTV's aerospace division. Renamed Vought Aircraft, the manufacture of B1 and B2 bombers worth more than their weight in gold became a Carlyle holding.
Companies specializing in radar imagery and cruise missile electronic relief maps followed these Carlyle acquisitions – along with firms providing nuclear, chemical, and biological decontamination, Carlyle also bought Vinnell, one of the first companies to supply the American army and its allies with “private contractors”. Vinnell's mercenaries fought in Desert Storm alongside the Saudi forces they’d trained. They now protect King Fahd. [Le Monde April29/04]
In May 2003, bloody Al Qaeda-linked attacks in Riyadh targeted the Vinnell Corporation. http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2003/05/14/1052885294304.html
